Plan your 2021 night photography sessions in the Los Padres National Forest!
You'll learn:
- The best night sky objects to observe and photograph each month
- How to develop a night photography session plan
- Recommended camera settings
- Gear that makes night photography a breeze
- How to set everything up in the dark
- How to get a good focus & composition
- Best practices/ethics for night photography
- Effects of light pollution and mitigation strategies
We'll cover the Milky Way, meteor showers, the moon, star trails, constellations and more.
Finally, a few favorite sites within the LPNF will be suggested.
Any and all Donations will go to our Trail Care Fund, helping to maintain the trails of the Los Padres National Forest.
This event will be held virtually, via ZOOM. ZOOM meeting access will be included in your event registration confirmation email. Please plan to join the event 10 minutes early if you are newly downloading ZOOM to allow you to test your audio and camera settings.
About Dr. Shaw:
I’m a professional photographer, author and teacher who specializes in nightscapes and time-lapses. My passion and mission is to help you discover new ways to create incredible images and video clips of the night sky - ones that you’ll be excited to share with your family and friends. Some of the skills you’ll learn include Milky Way photography, moon photography, time-lapses, star trails and more.
With more than thirty years of experience as a professional photographer and teacher of thousands of students, I have the background, knowledge and understanding to teach you night photography on your terms.
Founded in 1979, the LPFA is an official non-profit 501(c)(3) partner of the Los Padres National Forest.
Our mission is to care for the Los Padres Forest, ensuring it thrives and remains safe and open for the people to use and enjoy.
