LPFA and the Wheeler Gorge Visitor Center have our eyes focused on something small, something record-holdingly small....
It's the Wheeler Springs Post Office! Do you remember the tiny post office located in Wheeler Springs on your drive up Highway 33 to your favorite Los Padres location? That post office, manned by Wheeler Springs local Webb Wilcox, held the record for Smallest Post Office in the United States from the mid-1930s until Wilcox's death in 1962. Though no longer an official Post Office, it remained present for visitors to view on their drives up Highway 33 for another 55 years until it was burned in the 2017 Thomas Fire.
Help LPFA raise $5,000 to rebuild this Los Padres icon exactly as it was before the fire! The new replica will be finished by SPRING 2025 and located at the Wheeler Gorge Visitor Center for the public to explore and learn about the history of Wheeler Springs and the "USA's Smallest Post Office".
All donations will go directly towards rebuilding the Post Office to spec. And every donation helps! Please consider donating below.
